    Practise your letters.  Make sure your ascenders and descenders are clear (e.g. 'l' is twice the height of 'i' and 'g' goes below the line, whereas 'a' sits on the line).

    Correct the following sentence.  It should have 2 capital letters, 2 full stops and there is 1 spelling mistake.

    Write about your favourite toys.  Encourage your child to make their sentences longer.

    E.g. I like my giraffe.

           I like my giraffe with the long neck.

           I like my fluffy giraffe with the long neck.

    Try writing 3 sentences about different toys.

    What might Mama hen have said when the duckchick hatched?

    Start with the question 'Who is in my nest?'

    Now build.

    E.g. Who is in my nest with a big beak?

            Who is in my nest with a big beak and a long neck?

            Who is in my nest with a big beak, a long neck and a loud squawk? 

    Write your sentence down remembering a capital letter, finger spaces and a question mark at the end.
