We are delighted to announce that Binfield Primary School has achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2018/19 academic year. Having attained the Gold Award for the last four years, we are naturally delighted to move up the platinum. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our sporting achievements this year include: • Silver in the Bracknell Schools Tennis Competition (Y5 and Y6) • Gold and County Title in the Berkshire School Games (Y1) • Participation in Orienteering Festival at South Hill Park (Y5 and Y6) • Winners of Dance Routine and Quiz in the 13th Annual Kick Start Dance Competition at Garth Hill College (Y5) • Silver and Bronze medals at a Boccia competition at Easthampstead Park School (Y4) These are just a few examples of our pupils’ involvement with competitive sports events this year. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to the parents and family members that have supported us in terms of transport to and from sporting events this year as, without you, this award would not have been possible.
