The school bases its curriculum upon the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Framework (March 2014) and the National Curriculum in England Framework (July 2013).

We publish our Learning News booklet termly – it has lots of information about each year group’s learning aims for that term: Learning News – Autumn 2018.
Children of all age groups study Mathematics, English, Science, Computing, Design Technology, History, Geography, Religious Education, Music, Art, PSHCE and Physical Education. In addition, KS2 pupils study a Modern Foreign Language. Cross-curricular thematic work is a common feature across the school in how the curriculum is delivered. Enrichment opportunities are also provided each term.
Teachers organise the children in their class in a variety of ways depending on the learning which is taking place. Suitable challenges are offered to the children to enable them to deepen their learning appropriately.
The weekly time spent by the children on the curriculum is as follows:

These guidelines are followed in each Year Group and we ask that children do not spend more time on Home-Learning unless they really wish to do so.
All children are expected to practise their reading, spellings and mental arithmetic each day up to the designated amount of time. Increasingly, there is a need for children to practise their number bonds, timetables and quick mental arithmetic as they are not as adept as these skills as they could be. Children from Year 1 upwards will bring home the appropriate number work which they need to practise each week and improve their fluency. Please can you help ensure that your child spends a few minutes each night trying to improve these skills.
Research projects are introduced in the Juniors. Expectations regarding content and the variety of research increases as the children grow older. The timing of the research projects are often set to provide an element of choice, i.e. term time or holiday work. The choice is yours and your child’s. What is really important with Home-Learning is that the finished item is your child’s (with family support).
Home-learning diaries should be used as a valuable means of communication and regularly signed please.
