Religious Education (RE)

As a Church of England Voluntary Aided School, we seek to develop values that are Christian in nature. Through Bible stories and the lives of inspirational people, we can recognize the influence that each of us has on the people we meet in our daily lives. We promote the importance of Global Citizenship, through which children learn to understand the diverse cultures and faiths of people at home and around the world.

We follow the Christian calendar, particularly celebrating Christmas, Easter and Harvest Festival.  Daily collective worship is an important part of the school day. It is also important for the children to understand the origins and beliefs of other faiths which are taught through the Berkshire Scheme of Work for Religious Education.

We celebrate the fact that many faiths are represented by our pupil population and, while it is the right of parents to withdraw their children from collective worship and  RE lessons for religious reasons, currently no parent feels the need to do so.
