Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

In KS2, children start to learn Modern Foreign Languages. French is taught in all year groups from year 3 to 6. We aim to give the children opportunities to learn about other languages and cultures and provide them with language learning strategies as a good foundation for future language learning.

Children are given opportunities to speak with increasing confidence, listen attentively to the pronunciation of the words and write varying length sentences. We also provide a balance of spoken and written skills within our teaching of French.

This subject is co-ordinated by Taiyibah Ahmed and Vanessa Kean.
