Miss Katy Hughes – Acting Assistant Head and 4KH Teacher
I started at Binfield in September 2013, am currently teaching in Year 4 and this year have taken on the role of Acting Assistant Head for Lower KS2. In my spare time I like to be active and try to lead a healthy lifestyle. I love to spend lots of time walking my dog and running with friends and at my local club. This academic year I am the Science subject leader. I particularly enjoying teaching Science because I love how children respond to learning about the world around them!
Mrs Karen Vive – 4VH Teacher
I worked at Binfield as a full time member of the teaching staff for almost 20 years, retiring in April 2014. During that time I taught mainly in Years 5 and 6. I co-ordinated several areas of the school, including R.E. I was very involved with implementing the thinking strategies into all aspects of school life and, with colleagues, helped the school to gain initial accreditation as a Thinking School and subsequent Level 2 accreditation. I was an Assistant Headteacher and UKS2 Team Leader. I also undertook three periods as Acting Deputy Headteacher.
Since retiring, I have enjoyed returning to Binfield to teach children across the school as both a tutor and temporary class teacher, and am very much looking forward to getting to know my Year 4 class.
Miss Clare Harvey – 4VH Teacher and SENDCo/Inclusion Manager
I joined Binfield as a full time SENDCo in January 2016. My role as SENDCo means that I support children with special educational needs, working alongside staff, parents and other professionals to promote the best outcomes for these children. Before joining Binfield, I was a class teacher for five years, as well as having taught outdoor education for the National Trust. I’ve always loved working with children, especially when we are learning through philosophy PSHCE (personal, social, health and citizenship education).
