All the children from Year 1 upwards at Binfield CE Primary School (VA) are in one of four teams: Popes (red), Farley (yellow), Foxley (green) and Jubilee (blue). These are named after the local playing fields around Binfield and were names suggested by the children.
The children have been given a coloured badge to wear, denoting their team. Children in Year 6 have been voted to become team captains by their peers. The team captains for 2016-17 are:
- Popes (red) – Joshua Ncube and Chiara Saunders
- Farley (yellow) – George Thomas and Isabelle Tymkow
- Foxley (green) – Orlando Lord and Tia Sanghera
- Jubilee (blue) – Stephanie Bezman and George Urwin-Mann
Children can earn team points for their team for a variety of reasons, e.g., using power tools for learning, good work, holding doors open, being polite, being kind, modelling learning behaviours etc. All staff have team points slips to hand out.
Team captains collect team points and the results will be told to the children during our Friday morning assembly and the winning team are clapped by the rest of the school. At the end of each term, the winning team earn a reward chosen by the children, e.g., Mufti day.
At the end of the year, the winning team also win the school’s Team cup which is engraved and displayed outside of the Headteacher’s office. There is also a Team Sports cup which is presented to the team which has the most points from both the Infant and the Junior sports mornings.
